Moroccans have preserved their traditions and jealously guard their customs and symbols while retaining their sartorial identity. Indeed, there is not a traditional Moroccan outfit but outfits. Some vary from one region to another, but others like the caftan or djellaba are national and have a success with all Moroccans.

The caftan: Long dress with a train, which is bent at the waist thanks to a belt called "Mdema". The "sfifa" (set of hand-made silk braids, with a simple wooden bar) adorns the caftan, from the neck to the bottom of the outfit. It is worn for special occasions (weddings, baptisms, official dinners ..).
The Moroccan caftan has inspired several internationally renowned fashion designers, such as Yves Saint Laurent, Jean Paul Gaultier and Christian Lacroix. Yves Saint Laurent will be the first to present pieces inspired by Moroccan kaftans in his 1960 collection.

The djellaba: The djellaba is worn among men and women, a cut more curved in his last. In the back of the outfit, a triangular hood falls on the back; practical to cover your head when it rains, or store your keys and wallet!

Lahyal: Lahyal is the Amazighe outfit par excellence. This is one of the oldest and most fascinating outfits in the country.
It is composed of a long red suede or cotton dress reaching the ankles, just like the caftan it is adorned with a "sfifa". Over the dress, is added a white veil "adal"; symbol of purity. A black frilly skirt will come to rest on the dress to mark the size of the young woman. The hair of the woman is coiffed by a scarf red or black, with froufrou that one names "lkdib". This scarf will attach a silver crown, decorated with rubies and emeralds: "tazra".
